The reunion of the signatories of the common declaration

On 23rd of October 2000 ANUC organised at the Writers Union’s headquarter on subjects related with The Status of the Authors and Performers in Romania. Participants were high-level representatives of the Ministry of Culture (meaning Mr. Ion Caramitru, minister, Delia Mucica, General Secretary, Mioara Lujanschi, Simona Tanasescu) and representatives of the member unions of ANUC and of other signatory organisations. Also the representatives of the Romanian Parliamentary Commission for culture, arts and mass media – the senator Eugen Vasiliu, the president of the Commission and Virgil Nitulescu, expert in the Chamber of Deputies – participated in the reunion.

This first reunion is part of the project European Debates in European Newspapers – the Romanian contribution, developed by ANUC in partnership with the European Council of Artists ECA. The project was financed by the European Union within the framework of the European Cultural Fund for Romania – euroart, component of the "Cultural Dimension of Democracy" program RO 9709-02.

Mrs. Mirela Dauceanu, program manager and Mrs. Susan O’Reilly, team leader represented the euroart team in the reunion.

The subject of this reunion was to evaluate the stage of the activities in the Action Plan. As a consequence, the agenda was:

1. Report of the Ministry of Culture on the initiatives regarding the execution stage of the activities in the Action Plan;
2. Report of ANUC regarding the monitory and promoting activities of The Status of the Authors and Performers in Romania at national and international level;
3. Presentation of the documents published by the European Council of Artists ECA regarding the social and economical situation of artists in member states of ECA;
4. Formulating the participants’ opinions and proposals regarding the Status and the execution stage of the activities in the Action Plan;
5. Conclusions.
